Radio - Winter X Games 13
NRC Broadcasting Company – NRC Broadcasting owns 13 radio stations in the resort towns of Breckenridge, Vail, Glenwood Springs, Aspen, Steamboat Springs and Hayden. A combination of three of these radio stations between Aspen and Denver including modern rock stations, a classic rock station and a sports/news station served as the Winter X Games Radio Voice. Several of these stations ran promotions beginning around Thanksgiving and continuing through the event with prize packs and trips to the event, broadcast daily previews the week leading up to the event, in addition to news updates during the event. Other stations within the group broadcast athlete interviews, news briefs and up-to-date Winter X Games information.
- KSPN 103.1/98.3/97.3: Live and local. KSPN dominates Aspen and the span of the Roaring Fork Valley (Basalt, Carbondale, and Glenwood Springs). KSPN supported X Games with ongoing promotion from November through the event. The station ran contests and giveaways on-air as well as at local events such as the U.S. World Cup Ski Races. KSPN’s onsite presence as the station behind Radio X provided spectators a local flavor to the X Fest area.
- KSMT 102.3: This Breckenridge based radio station plays alternative, rock, and indie music and is clearly the local choice in Breck. KSMT was instrumental in helping us promote our Winter X Games 13 party during the Dew Tour. We did athlete interviews, giveaways, and on-air mentions to help support our presence in town. Additionally, during Winter X Games 13 KSMT ran a Winter X Games 13 / Fender Guitar grand prize giveaway. This included two Buttermilk Lift tickets to all 4 days of the event, a Fender Squire Guitar Starter Pack (includes gig bag, guitar, guitar amp, tuner, cable, guitar picks, and Fender instruction book), two Winter X Games Beanies, a pair of limited edition X Games 13 / Grenade Gloves, and a Winter X Games 13 poster. This was promoted through five live mentions a day (30 total) from January 19 – 25th and an online web blast to 2000 + ski and snowboard subscribers.
- KNFO 106.1/94.3: This news and talk FM station provided a forum to update the Roaring Fork Valley with interview-based news on the event both leading up to and during the event. The hourly news for all NRC Broadcasting stations is recorded and spread from KNFO.
Clear Channel Radio – Consisting of five key radio stations in and around Denver including market-leading KTCL (“Channel 93.3”). Channel 93.3’s modern rock format as well as alternative station, KBPI 106.7FM, supported the Winter X Games with a January promotion.
- Market-leading Channel 93.3 supported Winter X Games from January 5th through January 25th with more than 200 live/pre-recorded mentions of the event including location, dates and more Winter X Games details. Inclusion in email blast to 66,000 subscribers, on-air giveaways throughout the month, inclusion in X Games themed text messaging contest, inclusion in two email newsletters (53,000 subscribers), Channel 93.3 web banner placement from January 5th through January 23rd and athlete interviews leading up to event.

KSME 96.1
This Fort Collins based Northern Colorado’s radio station has been involved with Winter X Games for the past three years. As one of our radio partners on-site, they have been enthusiastic and thorough with helping us promote before and during Winter X Games. This year, KSME promoted and executed the giveaway of 3 Winter X Games grand prizes while also partnering with local businesses in the area to expand their reach. In addition, KSME gave away one of the 3 limited edition Fender Guitars. Both this and the WXG grand prizes were reinforced with online presence (5000+ email blast), inclusion on their website, on-air mentions, pre-recorded spots, and enter to win slips on-site from their tent in the WX Fest area.
ESPN Radio Denver (KKFN-FM/KEPN-AM)
Denver-based ESPN Radio affiliate now includes both an AM and FM station. Both stations supported Winter X Games 13 with a month long promotion throughout January promoting Winter X Games 13 via on-air mentions, email newsletters, a ton of website presence on www.fm1043thefan.com and a live broadcast from Aspen on Saturday afternoon from the media tent.
